Black History Event - Rel Dowdell, Professor - History of Black Hollywood In-Person

An Evening with noted African-American Filmmaker, Professor, and Film Historian Rel Dowdell

Please join us for a captivating, enlightening, and entertaining evening with the noted Director of Film Studies at venerable HBCU Hampton University, Rel Dowdell, as he gives an encompassing and socially conscious overview of how African-American films, their history, and their actors and actresses have made lasting, and often unsung, contributions to the longevity and success of the film industry. Prof. Dowdell will also speak in reverence of some historic African-American entertainment luminaries that he knew personally before their passing such as Esther Rolle, Lou Gossett, Jr., Andre Braugher, Suzzanne Douglas, Tony Todd, and Harry Belafonte.

Every attendee will receive a complimentary raffle ticket for a chance to win our Black history-themed basket, filled with art, history, culture, and music. The drawing will be held on Tuesday, February 25th at the end of Rel Dowdell's presentation.
